Student
Safety First
It is the
purpose of the Board of Education of the Cartersville
School System to operate schools in a manner that will
provide an orderly process of education and provide
for the welfare and safety of all students. Students
are governed by the policies, regulations and rules
of the school system, which are applicable in the schools;
on the school grounds; at school activities whether
on campus or away from school, on a school bus or other
transportation provided by the school.
Every student/parent receives a copy of the System Student
Code of Conduct and Discipline Procedures. The purpose
of this document is to provide information to the students
and parents about rules and expected student conduct
as well as possible penalties for violation of these
rules. In addition, the document provides for uniform
administrative and disciplinary procedures in our schools.
The system has two School Resource Officers (SRO) who
are also part of the City of Cartersville Police Department.
Once placed in the school, the officers become involved
with a variety of functions and duties related to the
school and law enforcement.
As required by law, the Cartersville School System has
developed and had approved by the Georgia Emergency
Management Agency a comprehensive safety plan that addresses
natural disasters, accidents and those incidents that
are human-caused.
Finally, our principals are the designated leaders of
their schools and with their staffs are responsible
for its orderly operation. Principals have the authority
to enact measures that he/she believes to be in the
best interest of the school and its students. Parental
or student issues and concerns related to school safety
should be discussed with the school principal. |
