Superintendent Comments
-Mrs. Beth Mathison, Finance Chairperson, presented the Certificate
of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the City
of Cartersville Board of Education for the Fiscal Year Ended June
30, 1997, to School Board President Greg F. Davis. This is the
second consecutive year the Cartersville City Schools have received
the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
This Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of
the United States and Canada to government units whose comprehensive
annual financial reports (CAFRs) achieve the highest standards
in government accounting and financial reporting.
-Review and demonstration of Cartersville City Schools website
by Mrs. Sheryl McDonald, Technology Coordinator and Mr. Anthony
Blythers, Technology Specialist.
Business Session
Adopted the Agenda; Received System Financial Report from Mr.
Richard Dyke, Finance Director; Received School Financial Reports
by Principals; Received System Maintenance Report from Mr. James
Surratt, Maintenance Director; Approved Schools and System Financial
Reports and Maintenance Report as presented; Approved low bid
for bread products for 1998-99 school year submitted by Earthgrains
Bakeries, Inc.; Approved low bid for milk for 1998-99 school year
submitted by Barber Milk Co.; Approved low bid for ice cream products
submitted by Mayfield Ice Cream Co.; Approved low bids for band
instruments submitted by M&M Music Ltd. (Valdosta, Ga) in the
amount of $11,495. and The Music Room (Rome, Ga) in the amount
of $2,585.

-Curriculum Committee, Mrs. Linda Benton, Chrm.: Approved Sex
Education/AIDS Prevention Advisory Committee recommendation to
include in the CHS TASC Force curriculum instruction concerning
sexual violence using materials provided by Advocates for Youth,
Washington, D.C., as reviewed by the Curriculum Committee; Adopted
the Cartersville Primary School Character Education Program for
use in PreK-2.
-Policy Committee, Mr. Matthew Hill, Chrm.: Approved Policy GCRI,
Holidays, local revision and approved Policy IED, Scheduling for
Instruction, state revision.

-Approved the classified employment of those individuals listed
below, with such employment initially being temporary until such
time as their criminal record check is completed and the report
is satisfactory to the Superintendent:
