Superintendent's Character Award Qualifications
Community service is a value that school systems should emphasize. It is important for our students to learn and understand what it means to give back to the community where they live. It is also important for students to appreciate the good deeds of others.
1. Who is eligible?
- Any Cartersville City School System student in grades 6 – 12.
2. Who can nominate?
- Anyone can nominate including parents, teachers, business partners and members of the community.
3. How do I nominate a student?
- Nomination forms may be obtained from school principals or downloaded from our website.

4. How many awards will be given?
- Two students will be eligible to receive the award, one from the middle school and one from the high school.
5. Who will select the winner?
- A committee appointed by the principal will select the winners. The committee will look for students who give of themselves through community service and inspire others. They will also look for students who demonstrate strong character through their actions and role modeling.
6. When will the award be given?
- The award will be presented in May of each year.
7. What will the selected students receive?
- The students selected will receive a certificate, a $500.00 Savings Bond and a medal. The students will receive their award at a School Board meeting.
8. When is the deadline for nomination?
- The second Friday in April of each year.
