RE: Board Policy Changes
The Cartersville School Board will consider clarification changes in the policies listed below. The Board Policy Committee has approved these changes and the full Board will consider the recommendation at their regular meeting on Monday, September 14. The recommended changes are due to changes in state law, DOE rules &/or regulations, and/or federal laws &/or regulations.
Proposed changes can be viewed under the Board Policy section on the system website under the School Board drop down menu. Comments about the changes can be sent via email or regular mail to Ken Clouse, Assistant Superintendent.
AE – School Year and Calendar
- State law has removed reference to a specific 180-day school year to allow for flexibility
GBU – Professional Personnel Ethics
- Professional Standards Commission has updated its Code of Ethics
IFBG – Acceptable Use of Technology
- Required wording for the instruction in Internet use and cyber bullying
JGCD – Medicines at School
- State law allows for students to carry allergy epipens under certain conditions
JR – Student Records
- Changes in federal law on the confidentiality and sharing of student records
Additionally, administrative regulations on reporting of fraud are proposed for adoption at the September Board meeting. Those changes can also be viewed on the system website.
