After
School Program
The Cartersville
City School After School Program was developed and implemented
to provide a safe and structured environment for students
in Pre-K – 5th grades. System employees provide
a well-rounded curriculum that includes homework time,
snack, outside activities, and small group activities.
Only students enrolled in Cartersville Primary and/or
Cartersville Elementary can participate in the after
school programs.
The After School charges are $40.00 per week
per child to cover expenses for the program.
Drop-in service will be accepted again this
school year. The cost of drop-ins per child per day
is $10.00. A snack is provided daily to each
student at no additional cost. The program does not
run during holidays and days in which regular students
are not in attendance.
Throughout the year there will be days during a week
that after school students will not attend after school
due to holidays, teacher workdays, and/or inclement
weather. When this happens, the per week fee will be
pro-rated (the drop-in fee will not be pro-rated). For
example: October 16, 2006 is a system holiday, therefore
your payment for that week would be $32.00.
Payment and tax information:
-Parents are responsible for keeping up with receipts
and canceled checks.
-Payment for the month is due on the 1st of each month.
-Payment for the week is due the Monday of each week.
-First payment must be made prior to the first day a
child attends each week.
-Drop in payments must be made on the day of each drop
in
-The after school fee is pro-rated ONLY for the week
when the school is closed due to
holidays, teacher workdays, and/or inclement weather.
-A $30.00 fee will assessed for every returned check.
After three (3) returned checks your child will not
be eligible for after school services.
-A charge of $1.00 per minute will be charged for each
minute past 6:00 p.m. per child.
Sign
Out
A sign out sheet will be used every day to allow the
parent/guardian to check their child out of the After
School Program. The parent/guardian MUST sign the child
out, by putting his/her name and the time they are signed
out. If the After School Program worker is unfamiliar
with the parent/guardian picture identification may
be requested.
Discipline
The After School Program is a privilege. We strive to
provide and atmosphere which is conductive to safety
and appropriate behavior while attending the After School
Program. Maintaining proper conduct in the ASP is the
joint responsibility of the students, parents, and teachers.
An infraction of discipline will result in a discipline
form being sent to parent/guardian informing him/her
of the infraction and of the action taken by the staff.
After the 3rd offense, the student will be withdrawn
from the program.
Suspensions/Withdrawls
Students may be temporarily or permanently withdrawn
from the program for the following reasons:
1. Excessive late pick-up (3 or more)
2. Discipline problems (3 or more)
3. Nonpayment of fees (within a 2 week
period)
4. Uncooperative parents.
5. Excessive (3 or more) returned checks.
Suspension may be more appropriate than withdrawal if
the three discipline offenses were over and extended
period of time.
When a child is withdrawn from the program, this decision
will be made jointly by the Principal, the Director
of Special Programs, and the Site Coordinator.
Medication
Policy
A parent/guardian may request from his/her child’s
ASP a form for requesting that medication be administered
during school hours. This form should be properly filled
out and returned to the teacher.
Inclement
Weather
In case of inclement weather or when school has to close
for any reason, there will be no After School Program.
Parents need to make arrangements for their children.
If school has been cancelled while in session, all local
radio and TV stations will be notified. You can also
check with the school your child attends.
All students will be sent home on the bus. They may
go home, go to a neighbor’s house previously contacted
by the parents or go to a local day care center. Time
does not permit us to call each parent.
It is important that you keep the Site Coordinator informed
of any changes of emergency numbers and employment.
