Financial Aid

Student aid is available in several different forms:  scholarships, grants, work-study programs, and loans.  Seniors should do the following to obtain financial aid:
  • Apply for Admissions to college/university/technical college as early as possible.
  • Apply to the Financial Aid Office of the college/technical school.
  • Complete the Profile form if required by the college.
  • Check with local places for scholarships (Career Center, Internet, churches, places of employment, parents' places of employment, etc.)
  • Complete the FAFSA
  • Complete the Tuition Equalization Grant Form if attending a private college in Georgia.
  • Apply for loans if necessary.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be completed beginning in January and send electronically over the Internet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

If you need help with the FAFSA, contact the Georgia Student Finance Commission or Etowah Foundation. The FAFSA must be completed and filed to receive the HOPE Scholarship and any other state or federal aid, including the Etowah Foundation Scholarships. We strongly encourage each student/parent to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.

Scholarship and Financial Aid information is available on the website and in the Guidance Office. Many scholarships come into the Career Center during the school year. Requirements and deadlines vary so it is important for seniors to check periodically.

A scholarship newsletter is available online and in paper form in the Guidance Office. A financial aid seminar will be held during 1st semester. A representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will talk about financial aid and the process of applying for financial aid.  Please plan to attend this important meeting.
